As for student employees, Workday generally takes priority for your information. You can submit a request to change your legal or preferred name on most university accounts. In some cases, you may also request a new ACE username.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are three types of name changes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>preferred name change<\/strong>\u00a0is when you would like your display name on your university accounts to reflect a preferred name, such as a nickname. This does not require proof of name but is subject to approval. Your legal name will still show on class rosters\u00a0(in addition to the preferred name) and in select record systems.<strong>\u00a0Some offices\/departments will still need to confirm your legal name for verification purposes.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>legal name change<\/strong>\u00a0is when you legally change your name on official IDs. You will need to submit proof of the new name before it is updated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>username\u00a0change<\/strong>\u00a0is when you request a new ACE username. A username\u00a0change can only be granted for one of these reasons:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You legally change your name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The email address or ACE ID created through the automated process is considered offensive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have received harassing or stalking emails, unresolved through other means.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All UNLV students, staff, alumni and guests with active accounts may submit this form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting Started<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Preferred Name Changes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please update your preferred name in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.unlv.edu\/TDClient\/33\/IT-Support-Portal\/KB\/ArticleDet?ID=724\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MyUNLV, Zoom\u00a0and Workday by following the instructions here<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit this form to update your Display Name in Rebelmail\u00a0and WebCampus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Requesting Legal Name Changes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please update your Legal Name with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.unlv.edu\/TDClient\/33\/IT-Support-Portal\/KB\/ArticleDet?ID=724\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Registrar, HR or both by following the instructions here<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you have received confirmation your legal name has been changed, you have the option of requesting a new ACE username or Email Address by submitting this form.\u00a0<strong>You do not need to provide OIT with any documentation as we will verify your new name in Workday and\/or MyUNLV<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Offensive Name<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ACE usernames are assigned though an automated process, typically\u00a0using portions of your last name and assigning a number. On rare occasion, this may result in a offensive\u00a0username\u00a0being unintentionally\u00a0assigned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can request a new username\u00a0by submitting this form.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Harassment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you are the subject of harassment by another\u00a0UNLV student, please contact the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/studentconduct.unlv.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Office of Student Conduct<\/a>\u00a0directly\u00a0first.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you cannot resolve the harassment, submit this form, or contact the IT Help Desk to request a change of username\u00a0which will also change your Rebelmail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional Help<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For additional assistance, please visit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.unlv.edu\/TDClient\/33\/IT-Support-Portal\/KB\/?CategoryID=169\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Accounts, Access, and Identity Knowledge Base<\/a>\u00a0for additional articles or select a\u00a0<strong>Related Service<\/strong>\u00a0to submit a support ticket.
